Neha, the creative soul behind Daily FurryTales, brings the same warmth and authenticity to her conversations as she does to her comics. She’s sweet, funny, and has a wonderful knack for turning everyday pet antics into relatable stories. Through her lighthearted artwork, Neha brings to life the ups, downs, and quirks of pet parenting, capturing those little moments that make life with pets so special. We sat down to chat about her journey as a pet parent, her inspirations, and her unique take on the ever-growing world of pet content.
1. What inspired you to start Daily FurryTales?
It all started out just for fun. I love drawing; it’s a great stress reliever and feels like my form of meditation. I wanted to make it a daily habit, but I struggled with what to draw. I experimented with a few different ideas, and then I got my first dog, which opened up a whole new world for me. It was such a learning experience, and he’s so naughty that he always finds a way to make me laugh. That’s when I thought, why not turn my daily adventures with him into comics? Now that I have two dogs, I’m never short on inspiration—they’re always up to something, which gives me plenty of material for my comics. And that’s how Daily FurryTales started!
2. How has your journey been as a first-time pet parent, and how has it influenced your art?
Being a first-time pet parent has been an incredible learning experience. My dogs, with all their antics and quirks, have become the heart of my art. They constantly surprise me, and that brings so much joy and spontaneity into my work. Their energy, love, and naughtiness are a constant source of inspiration, and I love capturing those moments in my comics.
3. How do you see pet-related content evolving on social media platforms?
These days, there are so many new online pet-friendly communities popping up, and they’re growing fast with more pet influencers joining the scene. Their content is becoming more creative, engaging, and community-focused. You’ll notice a shift toward authentic storytelling and sharing personal experiences, which really brings people together around their love for pets.
4. What’s your approach to creating content—do you follow a specific process or let inspiration guide you?
I don’t really have a set process; I started this just to have fun with my art. However, I usually make notes of things that make me laugh and try to capture those moments in my work. It keeps things fresh and genuine. Not every idea fits perfectly into a single frame, which can be tricky, but I see that as a fun creative challenge!
5. What has been your most memorable experience illustrating for Daily FurryTales so far?
A few months ago, I made a comic inspired by my dog Troy. He has this favourite spot by the window next to my sofa, and whenever I come home from work, he’s always there waiting for me. His excitement to see me is just the best! I decided to capture that moment in a drawing, and when I shared it, I got a lot of messages from people who related to that experience. One message really stuck with me—a woman sent a photo of her late dog. She told me her pup waited by the window for her every day for nearly a decade, which really touched my heart.
6. How do your followers' interactions influence the stories and characters you create?
A lot of people find my comics relatable, which is amazing. It’s so heartwarming when they share their own dog pictures or funny videos with me. Sometimes they even tell me their experiences, and it all inspires me. Their stories and moments give me fresh ideas for my work. Plus, it motivates me to keep creating and sharing more, knowing that my art resonates with others. It feels like we’re all part of this little community, sharing the joy and humour of our pets together!
7. What advice would you give to someone wanting to combine their love for pets and art?
If you want to combine your love for pets and art, my advice is to just start creating! Capture those special moments with your pets and use them as inspiration. Don’t be afraid to share your work, even if it feels rough at first. Also, keep experimenting with different styles and mediums until you find what resonates with you. Most importantly, have fun with it! Your genuine love for pets will shine through in your art, and that authenticity is what people will connect with.
8. Have you noticed any trends in the way people engage with pet-related content on social media?
Absolutely! I've noticed a few trends in how people engage with pet-related content on social media. For one, there’s a big shift toward authenticity—people love seeing real moments with pets, whether it’s the silly, everyday stuff or heartfelt stories. Short videos are really taking off too. It feels like there’s a growing sense of community, where pet lovers are genuinely connecting and supporting each other.
9. What’s your favourite part about telling stories through art, especially when it comes to pets?
My favourite part about telling stories through art, especially with pets, is capturing those little moments that make life so special. Whether it’s a funny situation or a heartwarming bond. When I illustrate these experiences, I get to share the laughter, love, and even the chaos that comes with having pets. I love how storytelling can connect people. When others see my comics or illustrations, they often share their own experiences, creating a bond over our shared love for our furry friends. Pets bring so much joy into our lives, and being able to express that through my art makes me feel connected to fellow pet lovers. Plus, it’s a great reminder of the simple joys we share with our furry friends!
